I've been out in the wind today.
I'm erring on the side of caution. Insurance Assessor just Ok'd the repairs to mike bike this avo so I'm gonna be a bit poor and a bit cautious. If i got caught in the wind again today they might not be too happy. Tanks, tractors buses should all be fine.

Glad I turned up early or would have missed the departure. Conditions where interesting but much better than being caught in a downpour.
Can only see the next ride being:
Calmer Drier and better visibility. And probably the wait to get a drink will also be halved. Its looking good for next week at this stage!

I was really surprised at the fantastic turnout for such shit weather. It was fun though. 24 bikes I think someone said.
Decided to scrap the saddle cause of the wind. Blowing 40 bastards. But then the weather gods saw that wasnt enough to discourage us so they threw in some light showers (just enough to make the roads greasy) and some thick fog. It was sureal coming over the track diving striaght into nothingness. Mrs C and I had a great time.
Notes for improvements next week.
1. check the weather
2. write a large L and R on everybodys hand.
Brewers apprentice had a good area where everyone could chat AND SMOKE!!
Next Friday. Same bat time, same bat channel.
(thats 6pm at mobil ashhurst. Will be delayed leaving till 6.30 at the request of a few who will be a little late.)

Bloody fun, wind scared the crap out of me at times, then when I saw Carmen nearly dissapear into a bloody hole, just missed it,not easy with wind and pillion.Primo finishing point with heaps of room to move, and who cares if it is cold with the cordura on and a beer to drink.Wouldn't be a manawatu ride if half didn't go wrong way,I just played follow the rider in front,so as not to get lost, baaaaa.Mind you the shorter version was ok by me.

Yeah, it really can't get much worse. Was a real "back to the future" ride showcasing all the highlights of the winter just gone. Rain, wind, fog, the works! The wind on the E side of the track was particularly impressive.

LOL. Poor 86. If you'd said "at the fork take the road to your 10 o'clock" he probably would have been fine.

But overall, great ride, and yes, very impressive turnout. I had a good time getting used to the big beast in the wet, I've done about 1500km on it so far but virtually all of that has been in the dry, definitely need to rack up a few more wet miles.

I enjoy riding in challenging conditions. Riding quick in the dry is fun but riding where you cant see anything and when that fog comes in it brings a bit of character with it.

the numbers are determined on bike width so it doesnt matter how many you bring over you will still be behind - we got the concours.
