Come on, waiting to hear about the test ride.

I was told 650gsxf has been built for 2010 legislation changes in Europe re maximum bike size. 12hp less than 750 but a lghter bike, also weight is slightly lower for balance.

I test rode one of those from Boyd Suzuki in Hamilton a few weeks back.

Very comfortable bike to ride, upright, no weight on the wrists, also fantastic through town and on country roads. The rev range goes to some large number, but i found that there was no power after 9,000rpm, it was all mid-range. I felt it was slightly gutless, but in saying that, it quite happily got to 180km/h on private roads relatively quickly. And to be fair, i had just ridden a CBR600RR prior to that.
Was probally the most comfortable bike ive ridden, i bet its fantastic long distance, and good two-up.

If i had to commute to work every day, and went out for weekend blats, i'ld be very happy with this bike...Except it feels like its missing something...perhaps more power?

Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth.

Cool to know there is a demo in the area, like the 12mths I/Free terms that go with the bike, seriously looking at one.

A little concerned about the power if 2 up,but then a 20+ yr GSX 750 probably puts similar power out.The bandit 1250 price is good as well, then went and had a sit on an SV thou and bloody not bad ride possy, and the rear seat is ok for those nagging pillions.Tough choice,98 VFR 800 about $7500,03VFR800 about $11500 around NZ,even an 06 bandit 1200 with 6500km for $9900 and I/Free for 24mths.Hard to go passed the new Zukis for the bucks.

Ok I know you all have been waiting for my test ride report, so here goes (bear in mind I dont know all the tech stuff)

2008 GSX650F
Awesome bike, very comfortable riding position (as this is top on my list of musts)
Great power, very torquey off the bottom, nice smooth mid range, and didnt really trouble the top end to find out.
The compression and rebound damping in the front felt alittle spongey, and the rear spring preload will need some attention but I am sure Pauly will sort that for me rolleyes.gif

But comparing this to the 2006 GSX750F, (of which there is still 5 new ones in NZ) for the $2000 in price difference, I have decided to go with the 2006 model.

Just need now to sell my bike (all tho have been tempted with a good trade price) and have a 2006 model secured in Auckland to come down as soon as I say the word.

Good call. All private sales are very slow due to financial market and this isn't likely to change till next year. A trade would probably be your best best as the dealers want the good 250's.

1. No but it's courtesy
2. Yes $30.00 single or $40.00 family but you get this back on savings e.g. City Honda.
