took the offering of dry roads to shoot out for an after work ride
spotted 86 lazing by the side of the road so stopped for a yarn
continued up towards aokautere, intending to nip round to ashhurst and be home in 15 but i just couldnt resist that turnoff and ended up doing the track, ballance and the gorge...a nice evening for a pootle and the fading light coming over the hills onto the ballance area was amazing
stopped in ashhurst to top up in readiness for friday morning
all packed and ready to go....rainsuit is ready too

Enjoy the weather guys it must be fine somewhere doesn't it?
Any idea on Monday what time you will leave Rahotu,we could arrange a posse to come up and meet you at say Kai Iwi or so,after all basing on murphy's law it will at least be fine on the last 120km or so,and a lovely public holiday, would be rude not to go for a ride.

thats a bit far away to be able to give any kind of a time on at this stage. I think we will give up on the four points ride this weekend and instead go for the "quest for the sun ride" I bloody hope in 3000km we can find it!

Yeah looks like Summer is being done by installments. First one was last weekend next one is who knows when.
Have a good ride. It should be alot warmer up north so even if it is wet the wet wont be misserable cold wet.

Just looking at the 3-day rain forecast - looks like it's going to be a Labour Weekend. Rain, and cold as a bonus!
Seriously though, have fun guys, I'm gutted I can't go. ANZA rang today - as they're putting the bike back together, they noticed the primary chain was looking fairly old and tired, with a couple of tight spots, and did I want to replace it? $120 now, vs $120 + taking everything apart (and replacing all the gaskets again) at some point in the future. A no-brainer, unfortunately. Have a look
here if you want to see what's involved in replacing a drive belt on these things - it's not exactly a roadside repair.

At least you won't dehydrate.
Be a typical labour weekend each day rains.
