And therein lies the problem - there's an amazing lack of wind behind them at 100km/h (and even less at slower speeds). The kind of wind you might want blowing in the vents of your helmet to stop it fogging up quite so badly in the rain.
Okay, so the real problem is my helmet. It's an HJC FS-MAX, and I really like everything about it except its anti-fog properties. In damp conditions in 50 or 70km/h zones it'll inevitably fog a bit - and then the only solution is to crack it open one notch to let more airflow through. But in the rain that means water inevitably gets on the inside surface of the visor, which takes forever to dry and just makes the fogging worse.
If I didn't wear glasses I'd just open the visor some more, which I do in cold non-raining conditions, but in the rain that would just mean water on my glasses and I could see even less.
I think the moral of this story is that I need to invest in a better helmet. I want one with an internal sunvisor as that's one feature of the FS-MAX I couldn't do without, and it has to be a flip-face. I've tried on the Nolan N103, but as others have reported it's a bit small in the chin area, especially if you have a freakishly large jaw like me.
