Well... the saga continues.
Turns out the rectifier, when its dying, can and in this case, does take the alternator/stator with it. Twice.

Stator - Ex Japan: $750NZ plus GST
Rectifier - Ex Japan: $450NZ plus GST
x2, as I borrowed the ones out of Mellissa's bike to keep mine going and hers died yesterday on the way to work!
Found some after market Stators for $170NZ from a place in the UK and some R6 rectifiers from the States for $47US. Still a pain in the butt though and I may miss the boat with the bike sale to the US of A if it takes too long to sort out.
In the mean time I have to carry the Battery maximizer in the backpack when I ride, as I'm running off the battery only, and plug the bike in at each end of the trip. No trip longer than Feilding to Palmy and back.
oh yay, oh gay!

Bad luck man. Are there any available from Auckland m/c wreckers?
Search Falsgrave Motorcycles (chch). Wrecking CBRs.

No I think Simon might have decided to not muck about and shoot straight for the top of the motorcycle gene pool.
