I like to setup an organized ride or two (or three)

I guess in the same vein as the Grand Challenge, Southern cross, pork pie etc etc

Got any brilliant ideas?

I figured I might drop an email to Lee from Rusty Nuts, and get some advice on organizing, and publishing an event.

I'm serious ... so you nay sayers (warr  :icon_tongue:) keep your negative thoughts to yourselves

Is it cause I have ridden more organised rides ...

More socialising less speed.

Poker run type idea, checkpoints then a gathering perhaps - tho seems a little organised.

Ride/event happens rain or shine

I like the treasure hunt idea .. I'm going to think on that

The treasure hunt, say with taking pic's of whatever it is you are looking for, wouldnt take so much organising on the day.
But you potentially could end up frustrating participants.

So does this mean you arent so interested in the GC this year ?

Well i'll be keen for a ride like that. As long as there is enough warning so i can save up $$$ etc :P

How about mountain to mountain? A ride to Cape Reinga via 60 mile beach on sports bikes? :)

Treasure hunt eh? Does that require support people to be placed around, who give out what ever it is, or is it like what warr said, pictures?
Treasure hunt - Cape Reinga, Mt Ruapehu, Under sky tower?, Lake Taupo? Gisbourne(first place to get sunrise??? Get photo at sun rise?), possibly over 2 days? Pit stop etc sleep bbq at yours? :)

If you could organise to close the road up the Thames estuary side of the Coromandel
run on a dry summers day for a time-trial that would be pretty cool.  :P

Yes time trial .. mm sounds good.
Just choose a road and go for it. Could use radios to ensure road is clear.
Like Old Mountain Road doesnt get much traffic !!
