Today I rode to Ngaruawahia and met with Malcolm on his CBR600 and Warren on his VFR750, then off to Huntly on River Road where Bryce joined us on his R6.
I’m not sure if starting a ride at the funeral home is a good omen or not.
Took Ralf Road, then Tahuna road, swamp road to Pearoa.
We arrived a bit early so did a quick loop to Kopu and back and met the Christain Motocycle Assosiation (I think that’s what they call then selves), at the L&P café Paeroa.
They’re an interesting assortment of people – some patched and badged up. Nice collection of bikes; a couple of mint Busa’s, a ‘B King’, another bandit, GSXR, CBR and a triple speed in there somewhere – about 15 bikes I think. You can tell they're a chritian bunch, all these bikers smiling far too much, huggs and handshakes all round.
We all headed off to whangamata then loop around to Kopu.
We were stopped waiting to group up, and of course War, my self and Malcolm were in the first lot to arrive – while we were waiting Warren forgot to put his stand down – and dropped his bike!!!!!! Think he would’ve worked that out by now.
Then Back via Maramarua, and weaved our way behind the lake to Huntly, then Pukemero Junction to Waingaro to drop off Malcolm, then home.
Not a fast ride, a real cruise, loved it.
Observations on my new suspension; much nicer and controlled rear end, tonnes more grip, no scraping due to higher clearance, less fuel consumption (can’t work that one out).
I just need to get comfortable with the stiffer front end. It’s harder and I can’t feel as much thru it – not sure where the limit of the front end is? I’ll get use to it. I’m not getting the dive and rebound when I let go of the front brake
