Death to thy CBR
So we got the CBR up and running again, our flatmate managed to balance the carbs, and that sorted out the issue with the bike running weirdly. Lauren and i headed out for a ride on Sunday, just a quick loop, only lasted about 30 mins or so, just to see if it was running alright. Great success! Bike was running mint.
So off i head to work, on the Hyosung, come back from work...on the Hyosung
Lauren - "Im on the side of the road...bike has broken and all the oil is coming out..."
Matt - "...ah crap, i'll come find you"
Off i go in the car with no fuel, empty tank light flashing
Lauren - "Dont worry a guy in a van pulled over and is giving me a ride home"
Matt - "ok, im nearly there, i'll spin around. Have you got the Bike?"
Lauren - "The bikes in the Van, hes gonna drop it off at home"
Matt - "Ok cool, cya at home"
I spin the car around, head back home. Arrive at home 10 minutes later and just as i get in the door the van pulls up. Out hops the guy, nice chap, very friendly, Rides a VTR1000 SP1. I give him a hand to pull the cbr out of the van and sure enough oil everywhere, all throughout the floor of his van and all down the side of the CBR...bugger.
Give the van a quick clean, say our thanks and he heads off on his way (Is going to manfield this weekend and so are we, am gonna bring him some beer).
Put the CBR in the garage with some towels etc underneath. Quick inspection reveals two quite large holes in the crankcase. Im guessing it was one of the Big End Bearings coming loose and forcing its way free. Cleaned up the oil on the driveway and took a couple of pics.
Not sure how easy it is to fix, but didn't come at the best time
CBR400 engine mod anyone?
