Hi guys,

Just wanted to pick your brains. I do a lot of stop start short trips on the RS throughout the week going to work and back. So as you can imagine the bike doesn't really warm up. Just wondering if any of you have in the past, or do now, use any oil additives in your bikes to help prevent wear from cold starts or lack of long runs? Which oils have you found best in combatting this as well? Are there any that warm up quicker and have better inherent protection.

Cheers, D.

Something with a low Winter rating, e.g. 5W-40 or 5W-50 should be fine, means it will lubricate well while cold, and it lubricates the same level at 40/50

A semi synthetic oil would be fine. Or else go all out and use fully synthetic

Ah ok. Sounds like a plan. Unsure of the oil that's been used in it to date, so might have her drained and filled with the good stuff then.

Alot of people skimp out on oil thinking it wont matter, but it saves you $$$ in the long run. $20 more for oil every 5000-10,000k's is cheaper than a $1000 bill after 10,000k's if something goes wrong
